GARDENING BAG COLLECTION:
a collaboration with Toast

18oz Scottish waxed canvas / British made cotton shuttle-loom webbing / Devon oak bark tanned bridle leather / Reconstituted offcut foam / Hand hammered copper rivets / Solid brass hardware

When TOAST approached us to see if we were interested in designing a mini-range of garden focussed bags for their Spring/ Summer 2022 collection, there was no way we were saying no. TOAST began in a farmhouse not so far from us and the first TOAST shop was (and still is) in our local town of Llandeilo. We love what TOAST do and it’s values are very close to our own so getting a chance to work with them has been a real pleasure.

The three designs above, a harvesting bag, a small and handy belt pouch and a garden kneeler are all designed with the modern gardener in mind. From days at the allotment, picking flowers and vegetables, to foraging adventures, to afternoons in the garden when your knees need a bit of help and support. All three designs use a simple and cohesive, carefully sourced palette of materials, sourced predominantly from the UK. Hardwearing and characterful waxed canvas from Scotland; rich oak bark tanned leather from an ancient tannery in Devon; heritage shuttle-loom cotton webbing from a mill in Derbyshire; solid brass and copper hardware; British made reconstituted off-cut foam.

All three designs are available exclusively from TOAST, both instore and online, (click on the images above for direct links to the items), and for some behind the scenes making action see our Journal post here.

TOAST began with loungewear and nightwear, designed in a farmhouse in Wales. Originally founded by James and Jessica Seaton in 1997, the collections reflected a sense of ease and a slower, more thoughtful way of life. Today, led by Suzie de Rohan Willner, TOAST creates and curates simple, functional, beautiful clothing, homeware and editorial. TOAST has shops throughout the UK and can be found in concept stores across the US and Europe. With studios in both London and Swansea, TOAST continues to design and develop all collections in-house and is proud to be one of the few fashion brands with its own full pattern room – lined with calico toiles and full of pins, papers, chalks and spools of thread, it is a true place of making.
