A collaboration with local coffee roasters Coaltown to celebrate their 10 year anniversary.

We’ve been big fans of Coaltown for a good while, for both their exceptional coffee and their ambition to bring a new purpose back to the ex-mining town of Ammanford, and we’ve had the pleasure of meeting founder Scott at various events over the years. We share very similar values in life and business and when that happens - a collaboration is never far away.

Inspired by a 1940's World War II Haversack owned by Scott's great grandad, the conception of this bag was to create a modern-day equivalent to the hard-wearing canvas Haversacks miners used to take down mine shafts containing their lunch, sometimes accompanied by a tin mug hanging from its side.

Our haversack has been scaled to contain a bag of coffee, Aeropress, coffee scale, and grinder. It features a large main compartment adjustable in size by the top compression strap, two internal pockets for filters and a phone, a comfortable webbing strap and the all important tin mug hanger. Constructed using traditional materials including heavyweight Scottish waxed canvas, the bag's rugged design will last for years to come.

Coaltown - coffee with purpose.

Coaltown is based in Ammanford in south west Wales, a post industrial community where Anthracite coal (Black Gold) fueled the local economy. But back in 2003 the last of the collieries closed and with it went the town’s purpose. Coaltown set off on a journey to bring a new industry to their home, a new Black Gold, a new purpose. In 2018 they achieved just that and the town is producing again. This time it’s a new Black Gold - coffee.

All of their ethically sourced coffee is roasted and packed at their roastery and espresso bar on Foundry Road, Ammanford where they employ local people to bring them into the world of third-wave coffee.
